What am I up to now? Writing music, writing words (March 2020)
Last month was crazy! I got to listen to two world premieres and interview so many great leaders in our choral world. I also was brave to get on the phone to talk to people about their struggles in the choral world. All of this to help me understand more what to write about in this blog, and what to ask my guests. You help me help you!
So, here is what I am doing right now:
1. Interviewing more guests for The Happy Choir Podcast
The Happy Choir podcast keeps growing. I am so proud of the work that I had the courage to put into it and how much I keep learning. Now that we have guests, I get to learn even more from their experiences, stories, advice.
Do you know somebody that would be a perfect guest for the podcast? Let me know!
Also, I keep being here for you if you want to talk: Click on this link to schedule a call.
2.- Writing a new piece for Ensemble Companio
Remember that back in January Ensemble Companio selected me as the winner of their commission competition? I’ve been deep into researching texts to set to music for this piece about home.
I am happy to share that I have selected a text and that it is time to start discovering this new “baby.”
Stephen King wrote on his book “On Writing” that we uncover fossils when we are writing a new story. I love this idea that the piece already exists and I am working to bringing to clarity as best as I can.
Home, returning and belonging. I look forward to pouring myself into this piece and share with Ensemble Companio a unique experience that we can then take to the audience.
3. Trying new things in the Facebook Group for Choral Composers
Remember last month when I created a new Facebook Group? We are slowly growing! You are welcome to join us to talk about anything that is troubling your mind or if you want to introduce yourself to our supportive community.
Well, this month, I plan to do some Facebook live sessions for us to work together. We will talk about programming and how to approach conductors, how to make our scores look ready to print, and any other idea that comes to mind!
I keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone and, though scary, I feel good about the amount of work I am sharing with you. I hope that you feel free to email me or schedule a time to call to talk about what can this brand do for you!
If you enjoy this Blog, the Podcast, or my pieces you can help me by becoming my patreon at www.patreon.com/composercordero. There you will find rewards and even more details about my work as a composer and perks for your career.
