What am I up to now? Asking (February 2020)

It is an exciting month! I don’t only get to go to two world premieres of two commissions (goal unlocked!), but I am also having the courage to ask a lot of questions and do a lot of things that I was afraid to do.

Self-doubt can be hard to overcome, but here I am doing it! I will have moments where I feel is too much, but hopefully, I will turn to this post to remind myself that I can do it and that it will all be ok.

So, here is what I am doing right now:

1. Asking a lot of questions

I am reaching out to as many people as I can. I want to learn what are their struggles in the choral world. Especially composers and conductors for now, but if you are a singer and want to share with me your thoughts, please do!

Asking these questions helps me create content that answers these questions and that helps you find more answers on this website or in my podcast. It will also help me know which guests you want to hear on my podcast, and what questions to ask them.

Do you have something to share? I am here for you.

2.- Creating a Facebook Group for Choral Composers

I want to build a community of Happy Composers. That is not easy. I am aware of the challenge. I want to create a place where composers feel free to share their struggles, ask questions, ask for ideas or suggestions. I am also gathering the courage to show up there every week and teach something that I’ve learned in my career!

If you want to join, here is the link. No matter which stage of your career you are, this is the place for you to learn and connect with others through choral music.

3. Writing music for an upcoming social media experiment

I am a fan of miniatures. I am not the best at researching them, but I have fun writing music and texts that are short but effective. For example, Seven Seconds of Love was one fo my first attempts at this.

Now I want to keep exploring and allowing myself to make mistakes but also to show the experiments to you! For that reason, I will use my social media channels to share with you these miniatures in the next month. Looking forward to it!

I will also be busy recording lots of interviews for you in my podcast. I am freaking out of excitement and nerves but look forward to sharing with you all of these wonderful guests.

If you enjoy this Blog, the Podcast, or my pieces you can help me by becoming my patreon at www.patreon.com/composercordero. There you will find rewards and even more details about my work as a composer and perks for your career.
