Program Notes: As I walked in several churches in Rome, I kept reading signs that indicated to be in silence inside the sacred places. I encountered many people walking around, praying, or contemplating. The church itself intrigued me. It seemed to be filled with stories. The first fragment of the text of Lux Aeterna offers a plea in which we show our silence and vulnerability. When somebody dies (or goes far away), we are left with silence. Perhaps we feel alone. All we can do is listen to our breathing and our heart.
